About 1 meter up from roots...
One of the 4 trees harvested, showing heavy agar wood formation all up and down the tree...
At base of tree. It becomes clear that as the formation of agar wood takes over the entire tree that naturally distress will occur. We must keep an eye on all inoculated trees to identify stress signs as soon as they are evident.
The first big harvest is slated for November, when the first batch of inoculated trees in Putao will be at 18 months post-operation. So far so good.
UPDATES! Summer 2019
A year has passed since we inoculated a number of trees at co-op member U Ah Hpu's place at Hkawngahtawng, Putao. Some of the trees were showing distress, losing leaves and showing split in the bark. As it happens, these were ready for harvest, so harvest we did!
